  • Consultation - from a single sex school to a co-educational school.

    Published 01/06/20

Dear Parents, Carers, Staff and Students,

Both St Andrew's CE High School for Boys in Worthing and The Forest School in Horsham are beginning a consultation from 1st June on becoming co-educational high schools from September 2021.

The Local Authority and the Governors at St Andrew's are encouraging people to engage with the consultation via the online survey on the West Sussex “Have Your Say” page.  The consultation goes live on 1 June and will last for a 4 week period. If you would like to engage with the consultation about the future of St Andrew's, please use the link below:

We appreciate that not everybody who may wish to comment will have access to the internet; the St Andrew's team will automatically send paper copies of the consultation and the survey response form to those in our school community with no internet access; further copies can be obtained by contacting the School Office direct.

If you have sent comments to the school prior to the consultation starting, you are urged to submit them through the official link as the School cannot do this on your behalf; unless you do this, your view will not form part of the official consultation.

    Yours faithfully,

    Louise Welcome

  • Changes to school day decision

    Published 14/05/20

Governors have approved the following changes to the structure of the school day at St Andrew’s

    • shortening of the lunch break by 10 minutes from 45 minutes to 35 minutes
    • ending of the school day at 15:10 instead of 15:20

This will not involve any reduction of curriculum time and lessons will remain at their current length. The school premises will stay open after school to facilitate extra-curricular and intervention opportunities

    The amendments are as follows:

    • In light of the uncertainty of the current situation due to Covid 19, the changes will not take place until September 2020.
    • The second canteen area will be open for a period of 20 minutes at the start of every lunch break and will serve cold snacks and drinks.  The main canteen will provide hot food and snacks; cold drinks will also be available.
