We ask parents to support us in helping to maintain a high standard of uniform.

Proper uniform should be worn on all occasions at school, on the journey to school and on school trips unless parents are notified to the contrary.

No jewellery other than one plain ear stud may be worn, and this should be removed for PE lessons. Boys with newly pierced ears are not an exception to this rule. Hairstyles should be natural and tidy. Hair longer than shoulder length should be tied back. Extremes such as unnatural colours, offensive symbols and names or words shaved into hair are not acceptable.

  • Black trousers (not chinos or jeans)
  • Black school blazer with badge
  • Black v-neck jumper with logo
  • Tie (badges and ties are available from Student Services)
  • White shirt (long or short sleeved)
  • Black shoes (not trainers/leisure shoes with or without logos)
  • Black socks
  • Optional – plain white T-shirt (worn under school shirt)

The official suppliers of uniform are First4Uniform and Broadwater Sports Embroidery.

Indoor PE kit

  • Blue polo shirt with school logo
  • Navy blue shorts
  • Blue socks
  • Trainers (also to be used on the Astroturf)

Outdoor PE Kit

  • Blue rugby sports shirt
  • Navy blue shorts
  • Blue socks
  • Football/rugby boots (either fixed or screw-in studs)
  • Shin pads (recommended to have built-in ankle protection)
  • Gum shield (available from student services – highly recommended)
  • Optional – navy waterproof jacket with school logo

PE lessons are a compulsory part of the curriculum. All boys are expected to participate fully in correct PE kit unless there are extenuating circumstances. Should such a situation arise (eg, illness, injury or lost kit), you are asked to provide your son with a note outlining the problem and a date when it should be resolved.

Books & Equipment

When your son arrives at St Andrew’s he will be issued with exercise books. If any are lost, he will be expected to purchase replacements. Each student should provide himself with a suitable pen, pencil, ruler and calculator. Coloured pens and pencils, compasses, a protractor and an eraser are also useful, as is a file or folder to protect A4 paper. A dictionary is strongly recommended. You may also like to purchase French, Spanish and German dictionaries.

A suitable bag will be required (not a carrier) to carry books and equipment.

It is the responsibility of each boy to provide a sturdy padlock (or duplicate key) to secure his shared locker. We advise against combination padlocks.

Spare keys may be kept in Student Services. Boys may purchase suitable locks from Student Services (currently £3.00).
